The Role

We are seeking a highly strategic relationship leader who can bring together complex stakeholder activity across a large organisation and create a clear, joined-up approach that supports our corporate ambitions. You will be an exceptional collaborator with the ability to build credibility quickly, influence at senior levels, and develop strong partnerships both internally and externally.

The successful candidate will have experience leading strategic relationship management, stakeholder engagement, partnerships, or external affairs functions within a membership body, professional organisation, charity, public sector institution, or similarly complex environment. You will be comfortable working across multiple teams, identifying opportunities for greater alignment, and creating frameworks that enable colleagues to work together more effectively.

You will have a strong track record of building and maintaining influential senior stakeholder relationships, representing an organisation externally, and acting as a trusted adviser to leaders and key decision-makers. Experience of managing grant programmes, networks, or member engagement initiatives would be highly beneficial, as would an understanding of governance and working with elected or appointed representatives.

As a leader, you will be skilled at motivating and developing teams, creating a collaborative culture, and delivering results through others. You will combine strategic thinking with strong organisational skills, enabling you to manage competing priorities while maintaining a focus on long-term objectives. Above all, you will be passionate about building meaningful relationships that deliver value for members and support organisational success.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a highly credible relationship builder with experience of developing and leading strategic stakeholder engagement, partnership or external affairs activity within a complex organisation. You will be comfortable operating at both a strategic and operational level, creating frameworks and approaches that bring people together while ensuring delivery against organisational objectives.

You will have a proven ability to build influential relationships with senior stakeholders, work collaboratively across teams and influence people at all levels. Strong leadership skills are essential, along with experience of managing and developing high-performing teams. We are particularly interested in candidates who can navigate complex environments, identify opportunities for greater collaboration and create a shared sense of purpose across diverse groups.

Experience overseeing programmes, networks, grants or membership engagement initiatives would be advantageous, together with strong planning, communication and organisational skills. Above all, you will be passionate about building connections that deliver meaningful outcomes and support the Law Society's strategic goals.

What's in it for you

Joining the Law Society means becoming part of an organisation that plays a vital role in supporting the legal profession and promoting access to justice. You will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that makes a tangible difference to organisations and communities across the sector.

We offer a supportive and inclusive working environment where collaboration, professional development and continuous learning are encouraged. Alongside a competitive salary and benefits package, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in grant management, stakeholder engagement and programme delivery while working with a broad range of internal and external partners. You will be empowered to bring new ideas, drive improvements and help shape the future of our grant funding activity.

The role is based in London at 113 Chancery Lane. The team currently works hybrid under a team charter where we come in the office at least two days per week. We offer a generous flexible benefits package, a friendly working environment and the opportunity to develop your career within a professional organisation.
