The Role

The Law Society is the membership body for the legal profession. Our members are at the heart of what we do and they are passionate about the profession being modern, diverse and inclusive so that it reflects the wider society it serves. Ensuring people can join and succeed in the profession, whatever their background, is a priority campaign for the Law Society and we’re looking for an inspiring and experienced campaigner to lead our work and drive concrete changes on social mobility within the profession. Being successful in this role means harnessing the expertise of colleagues and our members and driving a campaign that increases the visibility, reach and impact of the Law Society’s work on social mobility within the legal sector and helps to make the profession a leader and role model on diversity for other sectors.

You will lead across organisational team of issue and functional experts through matrix management, ensuring the campaign is aligned with the Law Society’s broader goals, mission and approach. Working with senior managers, Law Society’s Office Holders and colleagues to support broader stakeholder engagement on social mobility issues, you will create an ambitious programme for change in this large, complex profession and work with others to deliver a campaign with impact.

What we're looking for

To be successful you will need to demonstrate experience of successfully delivering and leading high profile and complex campaign strategies that harness multiple channels and strategies to achieve their goals and be able to work across different sectors and across different Government agendas.

You’ll need experience of leading and organising teams with multiple functions and expertise, including policy, communications, research and public affairs

You will need to demonstrate experience of leading stakeholder engagement and being a credible external representative for a campaign or organisation.

Experience of working with senior stakeholders and communicating with senior leaders in businesses or large organisations and an understanding of business drivers and corporate strategies would be an advantage
