The Role

Are you an experienced policy and advocacy specialist in the field of diversity and inclusion? We’re looking for someone to lead our work with members and wider stakeholders to improve diversity, inclusion and social mobility within the solicitor profession. You'll possess experience of working at a senior level, developing and implementing strategies and action plans to achieve objectives, solid policy drafting skills and the ability to analyse, interpret and present complex and persuasive policy briefings and papers. In addition, you’ll have strong knowledge of Equality and Diversity legislation and relevant codes of practice and experience of influencing professions, sectors and groups to drive real policy and practice change. This role is outward facing and does not drive the Law Society’s diversity and inclusion work internally (i.e. staff and business operations). The focus of this role is external, with our members and the solicitor profession and we seek a candidate with the experience of driving a strategy that influences and leads change within a sector, a profession or group of members.

What we're looking for

You’ll use your excellent all-round communication and presentation skills to influence and engage with the leadership team and establish credible working relationships at a senior level with a diverse group of key stakeholders. You’ll also have proven experience of managing a team, conducting appraisals and ensuring work objectives are established and delivered.
This exciting role offers the opportunity to tackle inappropriate barriers to entry and progression and will help bring best practice to an entire profession and to our internal diversity and inclusion. You'll have a seat at the table with government departments to partners from big firms and be a part of a well-resourced team of staff and volunteer committees.

What's in it for you

We offer a generous flexible benefits package, a friendly working environment and the opportunity to develop your career within a professional organisation.

Please note: if you are an internal applicant, Pay Policy will apply.

To apply, please submit a CV and supporting statement (no more than 500 words) clearly demonstrating how you meet the requirements of the role.

The closing date for applications is noon, 13/07/2022. We reserve the right to bring forward the closing date.

The Law Society represents solicitors in England and Wales. From negotiating with and lobbying the profession's regulators, government and other decision makers, to offering training and advice, we're here to help, protect and promote solicitors.
